I just threw out several thousand words of reasoned text. I will say this, and then I will discuss my understanding of the biblical reason for the war against the Philistines, the person of Goliath, and the rise of King David.

I am unequivocally against armed conflict, anywhere in the world for any reason.

I was the very first person to reach the steps of the Pentagon in June of 1967, protesting the "armed conflict" against Viet Nam. I was not a member of the organized march. It was individual protest. When my right foot hit the steps leading up to the armed Marines protecting the building, I just stopped. No thought. My body stopped, and the 150,000 or so people behind me fanned out to right and left.

To this day I wonder if the outrageous war might have been shortened if I had continued to the phalanx of Marines. Probably not, but as it happened, the march turned into a happening. The protesters sat down around the building. Food was passed out. Speeches were made. Photographs were taken, and the killing continued and continued and continued for no honest reason. So many on each "side" died for no honest reason. I'm still disgusted when I think about it.

Viet Nam was pivotal in the minds of Americans. Sure, there are still die-hard patriots willing to kill for Uncle Sam at the drop of a dime; but on the whole, Americans are done with all that, even though our government is not. When Bush 2 brought America, officially, into the war in the Middle East, he had to pay huge enlistment bonuses to raise an army. Patriotism was no longer enough, and since the draft is not reinstated, the checkbook became his tool, and America began the first generation of its Mercenary Army.

There are true believers in God-knows-what in the American armed forces, but the bulk of the soldiers are there for the paycheck. God help them, they found no other way to survive in the American economy. America's armed forces are now mercenary, and the brass have a real problem.

It used to be that a resignation was a signal to political authorities that a practice was illegal, immoral, had gone too far. Principled officers are resigning with that in mind to this day, but the political landscape has changed.

When top brass resign now, the no-holds-barred political rulers, in their desperation, see it as an opportunity to salt the leadership in the armed forces with yes-men who will do its bidding. The machine will continue to endeavor to keep its foot on the neck of the world, but new things will escalate. The bombing of boats and such in the Western hemisphere will increase. The threat of armed forces in American cities to put down engineered resistance will escalate. Civil law enforcement will cooperate or become targets.

The Beast is upon us. God help us all; for his masters are preparing the worst carnage the world has ever seen.

Be still, and hold your peace. Be still with me. May the peace of HaShem be upon you, brothers and sisters. Shalom aleichem. Aleichem shalom. As-salamu alaykum. As-salamu alaykum. The peace that is in HaShem, may it pass our understandings and possess our mortal souls, allowing for the birth of our immortal souls. To this the angels agree, shouting for joy.
